Phil Mickelson (T2), Ernie Els (T4) and Nicolas Colsaerts (T10) all made us proud with their fine play at Merion. While Lefty made a push for his fifth major, the Big Easy vaulted up the leaderboard on Sunday, and for the second year in a row Colsaerts was a factor at the U.S. national championship.

Mickelson posted his third top-3 finish in his last four starts with an Odyssey Versa #9 White Putter, Els used a Tank #7 Belly Putter with Versa technology and Colsaerts played a Black Series #1 Putter.

Odyssey Wins Putter Count At Merion, 7 Odyssey Putters In Top-10

Warning: we’re about to talk about Odyssey on Tour, so you’re going to see the number 1 a lot in this next paragraph. Okay, ready? Here it goes. Odyssey was the #1 Putter at Merion last week, just like it was the #1 putter at Augusta in April. The #1 Putter in Golf was also the #1 putter last week on the European Tour, Web.com Tour and the JLPGA.

The equipment report from Merion is another example of Odyssey’s major domination. And 7 of the top-10 at Merion played an Odyssey putter, including Mickelson, Els and Colsaerts.

The Word On Els’ New “Versafied” Tank Putter

So just how did we develop a Tank Putter with Versa Technology for Ernie? The answer comes from our Odyssey Tour Rep Johnny Thompson. Johnny made the putter for Els at the Memorial and the four-time major winner worked with it during his off week.

This model is 2° flatter than his Versa 90 #7 Belly gamer because he made a recent setup change, and this lie adjustment fits his new setup. Els has said he’s very happy with the Tank Versa model and is equally happy to have mid options with Versa alignment.

Versa Gets 3rd Straight Web.com Win, Earns European Tour Win Too 

Versa earned two victories on Sunday at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open (European Tour) and the Air Capital Classic (Web.com Tour). While a Versa #1 Wide Black model won on the European Tour, a 90 #7 model clinched the Air Capital Classic and 3 straight wins for Versa 90 #7 Putters on the Web.com Tour! Odyssey continues to lead all putter brands with 35 worldwide Tour wins this year.

Kick your feet up and get ready for a fun weekend, because Phil Mickelson‘s taking over right now at Merion. The Odyssey Staff Pro fired a thrilling 3-under 67 on Thursday to move into early contention with a Versa #9 White Putter.

Meanwhile, Odyssey led the putter count at the major championship thanks in large part to all the Versa models in the field. The #1 Putter in Golf led the European, Web.com and JLPGA counts as well. Odyssey led the count at Augusta too earlier this year.

Mickelson rolled in four birdie putts during his opening round and made a strong initial push to win his fifth career major and his first in this championship’s storied history.

We knew his game was trending in the right direction during his T2 finish last week in Memphis, and this morning he came out and drained a number of big putts and par saves that kept his momentum going. Now he’s in the mix as the rest of the field gets set to make a run.

Lefty was all smiles after his first round, as was fellow Odyssey staffer Nicolas Colsaerts (1-under 69).

If he ultimately goes on to win this week, this will be Mickelson’s second victory of the year, his 42nd career PGA Tour win and of course his fifth major. There’s a lot of golf still to be played, that much is certain, but it looks like Phil’s not going anywhere.

Odyssey Has 82 Putters In Play On JLPGA, Next Nearest Competitor Has 11

Meanwhile, Odyssey is steamrolling the competition in a DOMINANT putter count win on the Japanese LPGA Tour. There are 82 putters in play at the JLPGA event this week and the next nearest competitor has…wait for it…wait for it 11 putters in the field. 82 to 11, is that good? Sounds like a great performance to us.

The White Ice Sabertooth Putter captured a playoff win at the Wegmans LPGA Championship for Odyssey’s second LPGA major win and third U.S. major victory this year. The #1 Putter in Golf dominated the leaderboard including the win, second place and Morgan Pressel’s T3 finish.

Odyssey led the putter count at the LPGA Championship (38.9% of the field) and there were 20 Versa Putters in play as well. Our putters have now won both majors on the LPGA Tour this year, and we lead all putter brands with 7 LPGA wins in 2013 (no other company has more than 3).

For the third week in row, Tank took its place as the #1 putter model on the European Tour. Players have relied on its counterbalance stability weighting that helps quiet the hands during the stroke, and the total club MOI with increased weight that creates more stability.

Tank burst onto the European Tour scene a few weeks ago as the #1 Putter model at BMW PGA Championship, the Tour’s flagship event. Now Odyssey staffers like Thomas Bjorn and Thongchai Jaidee are using it, and Tour players are keeping our Odyssey Reps busy with all the Tank requests.

Of course, it isn’t our only putter that’s getting serious attention. Odyssey is the #1 Putter brand this week at the Lyoness Open with 43.7% of the putters in the field. Who knows, maybe we can get that number up over 50% soon. It’s also worth mentioning that Odyssey leads all putter brands with 9 European Tour putters wins this year; no other putter brand has more than 4.

Versa has been absolutely “en fuego” the last few weeks and the momentum carried over on Sunday with two more wins on the Web.com Tour (Versa 90 #7 Black) and the European Tour (Versa #1 White).

The two wins for Versa sparked a 3-win weekend for Odyssey, which also closed out a Champions Tour win on Sunday. With these three victories, The #1 Putter in Golf leads all putter brands with 32 worldwide Tour victories this year.

Versa has been on a crazy hot streak that’s included four wins over the past two weeks and five over the past three weeks. These putters have stood out for their performance all year, and their reputation has continued to grow with the world’s best players, especially on the PGA and Web.com Tours.

In fact, there were 22 Versa Putters in play last week at the Mid-Atlantic Championship (Web.com), and it seems that every week the number goes higher and higher.

Of course, Versa’s wins have had a huge impact for Odyssey too. Odyssey has recorded 10 wins over the last 3 weeks to take a commanding lead in putter wins for the year. During this 3-week stretch, our putters have racked up two PGA Tour wins, two European Tour wins, a major victory at the Sr. PGA Championship and an LPGA Tour win just to name a few.

We’re also tied for the lead or hold the outright lead in putter wins on five of the six major worldwide Tours. It’s all been a lot of fun to watch!

We’re closing out Odyssey Month on a huge high note as our putters lead the putter count on several worldwide Tours this week! Just like last week at BMW PGA Championship, we’re the #1 Putter and Tank is the #1 model this week on the European Tour. Throw in our ridiculous numbers on the Web.com and the Japanese Tour, especially for Versa, and you can see why we’re dominating week in and week out.

Odyssey leads the count at the Nordea Masters, where over 40% of the players are using one of our putters. And of course Tank is leading the charge as the #1 model in the field, with TWICE AS MANY PUTTERS in play as the next closest models.

When you consider that Odyssey leads all putter brands with 8 European Tour wins this year, and all the success Tank has already had, these numbers hardly come as a surprise. They’re still great to see, don’t get us wrong on that!

Meanwhile on the Web.com Tour, it’s another huge showcase with 22 Versa Putters in the field! It seems like more and more players are switching into Versa every week and Odyssey continues to win putter counts on the Web.com.

And on the Japanese Tour…well, the numbers are unreal. At the JGTO Diamond Cup, 53.5% of the players are using Odyssey; yes, over half the field! That’s pretty special.

These Tour equipment numbers are just what we want to see as we finish Odyssey Month strong. In May alone, we’ve held Office Putt of the Month and Odyssey Twitter contests, watched our Staff Pros rack up Drain patches for putts over 10 feet, and celebrated huge wins around the world, including a PGA Tour win for Versa, a Sr. PGA Championship triumph, and Sang-Moon Bae’s victory at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Versa dominated over Memorial Day Weekend with clutch victories on the PGA Tour (Versa 2-Ball) and Web.com Tour (Versa 90 #7). The two victories for Versa fueled a 4-win weekend for Odyssey, which also picked up a major win at the Senior PGA Championship and a hard-fought win on the LPGA Tour.

At the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, a Versa 2-Ball rolled to a one-shot win at one of the PGA Tour’s most historic venues. This huge victory marked back-to-back wins for Odyssey on the PGA Tour after Sang-Moon Bae won with a Tour Milled #1 Putter at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. And of course it was another landmark moment for Versa, which is the fastest growing new putter brand on Tour.

The 4 wins on Sunday added to Odyssey’s putter count wins last week at both the BMW PGA Championship (the European Tour’s flagship event) and the Sr. PGA Championship.

In fact, our new counterbalance Tank #7 Putter was the #1 model at the BMW PGA Championship, where we had more putters in play than the next four brands COMBINED! The numbers were incredible, especially at an event that featured one of the best fields in golf.
