Odyssey Takes Home Victory At The BMW PGA Championship
NEWS
We hope you all had a great long weekend. Odyssey certainly had a fun few days at Wentworth and Colonial. Let’s get you caught up on all of the big wins and news.
Odyssey Takes Home Victory At the BMW PGA Championship
Odyssey captured a huge win over the weekend with a victory at the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour’s flagship event. The White Hot XG #7 Putter was used during an impressive four-shot win. Odyssey now leads all putter manufacturers with nine victories on the European Tour so far this year; the next nearest competitor has three.
Gainey Dialed In At Colonial
Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey led the field in strokes gained – putting on his way to a third place finish at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. He consistently rolled in long putts with an Odyssey Backstryke Blade Putter and ranked third in putts per GIR and T4 in putts per round.
NOTES
Odyssey Leads Putter Count At Wentworth and Senior PGA Championship
The #1 Putter in Golf led the putter count by a wide margin at both the BMW PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship. At the BMW PGA Championship, 45.3% of the players in the field used an Odyssey Putter, and 11 of those players carried a Metal-X model.
Quiros was one of those Metal-X users; he switched to a Metal-X D.A.R.T. model before the event. Odyssey Tour reps have told us that the increased head weight and shorter length all seemed to offer a much better impact and roll for him leading up to the tournament.
On the Champions Tour, 47 players rolled an Odyssey gamer at the Senior PGA Championship. No other putter manufacturer had more than 35 putters in play.
