JJ Henry

With family and friends tracking his every move around TPC Four Seasons, Fort Worth resident J.J. Henry stormed up the leaderboard on his way to a T3 finish at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. The TCU alum played an Odyssey White Hot XG #7 Belly Putter and held the outright lead at one point during the final round. He shot 68-68-67-68 to finish 9-under and just two shots off the winning score at one of the most difficult setups on the PGA Tour.

Phil Mickelson made some early noise on Sunday, as he moved into contention with five birdies over his first 12 holes during the final round with a White Hot XG PM Blade Putter. Lefty now has five top-10 finishes this season, which is tied for the lead among PGA Tour players. “I had a great day today,” Mickelson said of his final round 66. “I didn’t knock down the pins but I gave myself some putts and made a few and it was nice to see some of them going in.”

22 of the 64 ladies at the LPGA Tour’s Sybase Match Play Championship (34.4% of the total field) used an Odyssey putter. Two non-staffers switched to an Odyssey putter at the Match Play, including one of last year’s major champions. There were five different versions of Metal-X Putters in play, and the #6 and Rossie versions were the most popular Odyssey models for the week.

Jones Qualifies For U.S. Open, Shirt Selection Still Debatable

Longtime Odyssey Staff Pro Brendan Jones and his unforgettable golf shirts qualified for the U.S. Open this weekend. The day after the Japanese Tour Pro finished T6 at the Totoumi Hasamatu Open, Jones shot 10-under over 36 holes at his Championship Sectional Qualifying to finish low medalist and punch his ticket to the U.S. Open in June. It’s already been a great year for Jones, who won in April and now holds the money list lead on the JGTO. No word yet on what shirts he will wear at Olympic next month, but if this picture is any indication plaid is the heavy favorite.

Odyssey Going Strong On PGA, Nationwide Tours

There were 37 Odyssey putters in play at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, and four of those users finished T9 or better, including Henry and a non-staffer who were T3. On the Nationwide Tour, 37 players used an Odyssey putter as well, and the winner played a White Ice #7. The White Hot 2-Ball was the most popular Odyssey model on both Tours.
